As soon as I met Paul and Careid—in Millennium Park’s Lurie Garden—I knew that I wanted to photograph their wedding. A mutual friend had connected us and the more they talked about what they were hoping their wedding would be, the more eager I was to be involved.
Paul & Careid’s ceremony and reception were held at the whimsical Catalyst Ranch, a converted loft in downtown Chicago. The CR’s many rooms and eclectic menagerie of found and refurbished objects made for a space that didn’t need much in the way of decor. Ready-made fun!
The gathering was a joyous affair as the friends and family sang, played, drew, and composed prose in celebration of the couple.
It was an extra treat to have a photo booth onsite. Paul and Careid’s guest book was a montage of scripted messages and strips of photos snapped during the reception.
The wedding was delightful in so many ways, but perhaps most fun was seeing the way Paul and Careid’s friends and family use their creative energies to love them so well.
