high-waisted trees: Poet Brittany Perham in San Francisco

Brittany Perham’s first poetry collection, The Curiosities, has just made its way into the world via Parlor Press. It’s ok if you didn’t manage to get your hands on a copy at AWP—so many presses, so much wine—you can get one of four remaining copies online. Brittany reads in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Virginia before returning to the West Coast—and the Outer Richmond’s Bazaar Writer’s Salon she helps curate at the Bazaar Café—in April. Brittany and I caught Golden Gate Park abloom and abuzz with the excitement of the arrival of a certain slack-jawed girl and her dangling pearl.

I’m so enchanted by people’s live/work spaces—always anticipating the moment when I get to see where and how their particular form of magic (pop-up dinner parties, albums, or, as in this case, poems) happens. Brittany’s view made my chest swell a bit—all that reflected light and shadowplay.
